When Playing Online Poker
When playing poker online, or live poker at a card room or casino, often times there will be one player that bugs you so much you are fixated on getting revenge on him. It happens all the time; it may be someone who you had beat in a hand but who lucked out on the river, it could be someone who always raises your big blind, it could be someone who is just an annoying person.
It’s a situation that happens all the time. But the key is to not get fixated on that one persona and getting revenge. I know, it is a difficult thing to do. It is simple human nature to want to get revenge on someone we find annoying and who we feel has wronged us. But on the poker table, that can only lead to disaster.
I was in such a situation when playing online poker recently. There was one player who beat me on two consecutive hands, both times when he hit a lucky card on the river. I became obsessed with getting all of his chips, and it led me to make stupid calls, and even stupider raises, and eventually I was cleaned out. So remember, in poker, all emotion must be left behind, simply play the cards and the calculations.
